Rainy Day

Here in Utah the weather is crazy bipolar. Earlier this week it was pouring and 40 degrees, but then the next day it was 90 and blistering. In spirit of the rainy weather I felt the need to create several ways to match my mani.

WAY #1:
Sparkle Drops

Paint nail with a sheer blue micro glitter polish

Thinly apply a coat of gray polish
Apply a clear glitter polish

Mix a gray polish with white polish

Dip a sponge into the mixture and dab some cloud shapes anywhere onto the nail

The glitter polish will show through in some spots of the clouds and any space clouds weren't added.

WAY #2:
Matte & Clear

Apply a thin layer of a bluish gray polish to nail
Add a thick layer of matte polish and let dry
Once dry, apply small spots of shiny clear polish
Give the spots a second coat
This is my favorite rainy mani! I think it is so unique and cute.

Remember that you cannot add a top coat of any kind or the rain effect will be ruined!

WAY #3:

Apply a gray blue polish and sponge in some clouds the same way as the first manicure.
Using a light blue polish create some dots under the clouds to stand as rain drops.

I hope that you love these easy manicure designs!

Mix N' Match

These WetSeal shorts are the perfect summer shorts because they are loose fitting and flowy, floral print, and great colors that will match almost everything. They are a knock off of the Brandy Melville Vodi shorts which I have always wanted, but they are a whopping $55! Heck no BM... some of us are trying to get through college!

Do not be afraid to mix and match patterns and materials! Stick to the same color warmth to keep the look tied together.

Contrast Nails

 YOU WILL NEED:

  • 3 polish colors of your choosing
  • black polish
  • a striping brush
  • cosmetic sponges
  • stencils (OPTIONAL)

Start by painting a splotch of each color connected to one another on a sponge

Then dab the painted part of the sponge onto a white nail, with pressure

Lift the sponge off the nail and VUA-LAH!

Repeat on every nail and let them dry completely

Once dry, clean up any polish around the cuticles with acetone and a Q-tip

On the center of each nail paint a basic shape, letter, or number with a striper or stencil

Let them dry completely and apply a top coat!

Ready Or Knit...

Summer is wrapping up and whether we are ready or not, school is just around the bend.  Here is a cute outfit that I feel is perfect to wear to those end of summer barbecues.

This is one of my favorite outfits because the beige sweater paired with the dark denim shorts leave so much potential to mix and match different accessories. This ensemble can be changed up in a ton of ways simply by changing which bling and shoes you choose to wear!

I just think the POP of color the sandals provide make this outfit look so much more thought out than it actually was! Plus, the 1.5 inch wedge give the appearance of longer AND leaner legs. (Which, for we who have soccer player thighs... is life changing)

Shorts: Wetseal ($12.99)
