Broad Stripes & Bright Stars

To be honest, there are probably 1,000 different nail designs I have floating around in my head that I want to do to my nails this year for the fourth, but I only have so many fingers to paint on so I just whipped up some of the ones I am debating between sporting this coming fourth. So I hope you like these designs!

"Hurrah for the Flag of the Free" (The Stars and Stripes Forever)

Start off with a blue base

Using a large dotting tool and white polish create two big connected dots 3/4 of the way down the nail

Fill in the rest of the nail

With red polish and a striper, create red lines only in the white section of the nail

With a silver polish and striper trace over the top of the white

Seal in the design with a fast drying top coat

"Home of the Brave" (The Star Spangled Banner)

Start with a white base

Cut some page savers in half and stick to bottom center of nail

Using red polish and a striper create stripes from the page saver to nail tip

Immediately remove the page saver

Using nail gems or glitter, line between the stripes and half moon

Apply a fast drying top coat

"Uncle Sam Came Here" (Yankee Doodle)

Start off with white nails and paint one with 3/4 red strips and one 3/4 plain blue

Apply a blue dot on the bottom of the stripes and make an "X" across the nail crossing in the center of the blue dot. Fill it in.

Repeat last step on blue nail, but with red polish

Apply white dots or glitters onto the blue part of the nail

Outline the center dot and "X" with white polish. Apply a sideways "V" extending from the center dot

Apply a fast drying top coat.

"It Waves Forever" (Stars and Stripes Forever)

On a white base, create a blue rectangle in a corner of the nail

Using a striper and red, create horizontal lines across the nail

Add some white dots or sparkles into the blue section of the nail

Apply a fast drying top coat

I hope you enjoyed the first of several July 4th nail art Howtos. Mix and match these designs with other designs of your own creation or with each other for unique, but still patriotic manis!

All Things Pretty

A week or so ago I visited my future soccer coaches for Weber State University. While sitting in their office discussing school and soccer matters, one of the two asked why my nails were empty... I was kind of shocked that they knew about my nail art obsession and I have since started to realize that many people know me as the nail girl. Yes, I love painting nails, but I also have other interests. I love nature and books, green tea, soccer, instagram, cats, sleeping, the sun, sketching, and all things pretty.

Like any girl, I love having an excuse to pretty myself up on occasion, which I feel that most girls need from time to time, it makes us feel good... right? Unfortunately, today was not my day to get all dressed up, but it was the day for my darling sister Ellee. I have received some clothing items in the mail from wonderful companies that suggested I pick out some free clothes that, in return, I should feature on my social media. Of course I cannot turn down free clothes so here it is. A blog post about a few of my other life loves; photography, freebies, and fashion.

I know this is a little different from my usual blog posts, but I needed a break from polish and this was the perfect opportunity! I had a lot of fun and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed snapping the photos and editing them.

I love this outfit so much it almost hurts.

I honestly love this simple outfit. It is definitely a potential July 4th outfit option because of how simple it is. Paired with a red lip, I feel that the blue & white stripes are being patriotic without completely over-doing it and being too obvious.

I know I have a long long ways to go in terms of becoming a famous vogue fashion photographer and it will most likely never happen, but hey! I have fun doing it so why not?

World Cup USA Nails

When the Fifa World Cup only rolls around once every 4 years it is completely necessary to celebrate by giving a World Cup manicure to support whichever team you are rooting for. Obviously, I am rooting for the good ol' USA (especially Beckerman #15) An even better reason to sport these nails now is that the fourth of July is quickly approaching and these can double as festive holiday nails as well! Talk about a two-fer am I right?

Although this manicure looks super difficult, it really is super simple and took me only 20 minutes to accomplish. Thanks in advance for giving this a try (hint hint). You totally won't regret sporting these beauts.

Ring Finger: Soccer Ball

 Apply a white base
Create a black pentagon in the center of the nail
Fill it in and repeat on each upper corner of the nail
Connect the corners with eachother

Middle Finger: USA Jersey Logo

Start with a base coat and place a piece of tape so that it covers only 1/3 of the nail
Coat the rest of the nail in white polish
 Remove the tape immediately
Paint stripes in the blue section of the nail
In the lower portion of the white section apply three star glitters (you can paint them or just use regular gliter if you don't have stars)
With a striper and red polish, paint the tip of your nail

Thumb: Red Stripes

 Start with a white base
Paint two big stripes with red polish and between the big stripes paint skinny ones

Pinky Finger:  Red Glitter

 Start with a red base
 Apply red chunky glitter pieces
Any other blue, red, white, silver, & gold glitter you want
(Try to use assorted sizes)
Add Star glitter if you own some

Pointer Finger: White Glitter

Start with a white base and add any silver chunky glitter you love
Add blue, red, silver, and gold star glitter... or just paint stars

Apply a fast drying topcoat to all nails
